The Waterfront Cafe West Mersea has been open for over 30 years. Situated by a fantastic outlook over the River Blackwater and down by the boats. We have outside seating for 42 and inside for 32. Enjoy delicious steak & kidney, beef & ale pie as well as chicken or beef casserole as well as lighter snacks, and homemade cakes. Vegetarians and children are catered for. Refurbished in 2009 the new licensed restaurant was born and with extended opening into the summer evenings we offer a selection of Tapas to be enjoyed with a glass of wine while watching the sun go down.
Also known for the best breakfast on Mersea Island we have become popular with visiting Sunday walkers, bird watchers and Islanders alike. Daily specials include locally caught fish, homemade soups and cream teas. We have always tried to use the very best locally sourced produce as much as possible and continue to seek ingredients either produced on the Island or as nearby as possible.
